GENERAL
REVIEW
Ahmed, a well educated
electrical engineer originally from India, had been in the
United States for only a few years. Happily, he had been
able to find a sponsor for himself in the U. S. counterpart of
his company back in India. Unhappily, he found himself
working 60 to 80 hours a week in a job that seemed to offer no
chance of ever getting away from a grinding existence that
kept him away from his family. Too, he was in a very
narrow professional niche: only a few companies in the
country actually worked on the high voltage equipment he had
come to know so well. Determined to escape from his
prison like existence, however, he came to R. L. Stevens for
some much needed help and guidance.
It wasn't easy
and it took more time than either he or his consultant would
have liked. But he and his consultant attacked his
problem from every conceivable angle, re-writing his resume
when need be to better present him to this or that industry
where his talents and management skills could be better
utilized. Research was exhaustive; interviewing was
practiced more than once; coaching was constant.
In the end,
Ahmed won an offer with a company known worldwide for
appreciably more than he had been making before, great
benefits, reasonable working hours, and far less travel than
he had been faced with. And suddenly, he had offers from
other similarly well known companies as well, including an
offer of promotion and a raise from his old company (which he
firmly turned down). Elated, he and his family took his
consultant out to dinner at an Indian restaurant to celebrate.
(It was a great meal!)
